After unveiling the much hyped USD 35 tablet, the work on the project has been progressing steadily. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Rajasthan has bagged two projects for the purchase of 100,000 tablets and testing them under different conditions in labs as well as in different locations across India. The institute has partnered with HCL Technologies to procure the tablets by 10 January at a budget of USD 6.4 million (Rs.30 crore). Upon successful completion of the tests, 1 million tablets will be made available to university students in India by the seond half of 2011.
