UT2004 Maps
UT2004 is still one of the most popular online Multiplayer games. This map is one you won't get tired of quickly. It's got a variety of levels with ramps, stairs, portals, jump pads and so many well crafted looks to the levels you'd think you'd entered a new map.
QUAKE 4 Multiplayer Maps
This section hosts a custom built pin-ball themed QUAKE 4 map as well as an uber pack of the top 12 finalists in the VIA Doom3World Quake 4 Mapping competition.
Quake III "scramble-01" Capture the Flag map
How often had you fought through hell and back to get into the enemy base, frag any defenders only to have them respawn right in front of you again, this time with several seconds on invunerability... just enough time to take you out. It was something that made dying much less of a tactical negative... in some cases it actually made dying the most strategically inteligent thing to do, which just didn't make any sense. Therefore, we changed the basic design of the map to force a completely different dynamic, preventing players from spawning stright back into the heart of battle.
DOOM 3 Benchmarking Maps
As the name of this map suggests, its primary purpose is to serve as a high end performance system benchmark application using the DOOM 3 engine. Not only do we have a map worthy for benchmarking , as an optional extra, we've also supplied a zip file with a multiplayer demo that can be used to perform a benchmark test. Instructions to run the timedemo test are shown below and are also available in the read me file included in the zip file.
DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil Maps
Reach out and frag someone. Resurrection of Evil, the expansion pack to DOOM 3 may breath new life into multiplayer action for DOOM 3 and these maps certainly help.
DOOM 3 Deathmatch maps
VIAVGA DM1 is a Doom 3 multiplayer level made for free for all (FFA) and smaller sized team based Deathmatch games. VIAVGA DM2 is a DOOM 3 Deathmatch map built to accomodate large sized Deathmatch and various sized team Deathmatch games.
Jedi Knight II VIA Arena Outpost Map

ABOUT THE MAP: This map was created by a very talented person Josh Holmes aka bOrg, who couldn't resist the challenge to build a map that would be worthy of becoming a regular feature in benchmarking suites. The map itself has been designed for excellent gameplay. Weapons and ammo are readily available throughout the map and the center features an arena area for light saber duels where opponents can be sealed inside behind force fields for a fight to the death. BUT, you will need a pretty high end system to be able to play this map smoothly and you would definitely need a high end system to play with high details at high resolutions smoothly. Essentially it's been designed as a benchmarking tool, but download it and give it try on your system to see how it performs!

Quake III VIA Arena Map
Back in April 2001, VIA commissioned a Quake III Map to feature the VIA logo and chipset images. What we got was a Quake III Map with arguably the highest level of detail in any map to date, that is also extremely enjoyable to play. It is still arguably the most detailed Q3A map ever made. In November 2001, the map was updated to include new images of newer chipsets. One map features a spinning reflective VIA logo with four small joined rooms off that one Arena. The second map is very large. It contains the smaller map plus a large open space with jumping and bouncing fans, tunnels, walkways and lifts and even secret buttons that allow you to blow up your opponents from a distance! The Q3A Map launched the name VIA Arena.

Linux Patches & Tools

Pre-compiled kernels Mandriva 2007.1 suppoting VIA chips
Mandriva Linux 2007.1 (x86/x86_64) cannot with VIA CX700 (M/M2), VT8237S and VX700 (M/M2) chips, so VIA has prepared these pre-compiled kernels for both x86 and x86_64 Mandriva 2007.1.
Enabling PIDE DMA mode with VIA South Bridge chips
There are lots Linux distributions in the world nowadays. Many of them do not support newer VIA South Cridge chips, such asVT8237A (S)/VT8251/CX700 (M/M2)/VX700 (M/M2). Unsupported South Bridge chips might cause the system not to boot or to only run in PIO mode. This is because the kernel does not recognize the IDE controllers. This document describes how to manually patch the kernel source to enable DMA mode in VIA’s South Bridge chips.
Beta EPIA BIOSs that resolve a DMA lock up issue
These beta BIOS packages are provided to resolve an issue where lockup may occur during large DMA transfers under Linux with certain VIA EPIA Mini-ITX boards. Please refer to further information about this issue in the VIA Arena Linux section of the forums. Official  non beta BIOS released by the VIA Embedded Platform Division can be found on their web site.
Disk Performance Measurement
We discovered that some hard disks may fail to operate at their maximum transfer speed. As a result, some cases may require re-building the kernel to enhance disk performance. The guide/s below report test results on three VIA South Bridges with or without the kernel rebuild.
ATA speed kernel patches

The native IDE driver in the Linux distribution packages noted below, due to some bugs, do not support the maximum possible data transfer speed of ATA/133 (Ultra DMA mode 6) for VT8251, VT8233A and VT8237; ATA/100 (Ultra DMA mode 5) for VT82C686B, VT8231, VT8233, and VT8233C. The guides below provide kernel patches and step-by-step instructions to re-build the kernel, to achieve the maximum possible data transfer speed. Some guides cover all South Bridges and some only cover a few. Experienced users will be able to alter the patches to service other versions of the distributions covered.

Hardware Monitor
These guides show how to install the LM_Sensors package to enable the hardware monitoring functions for VT82C686B and VT8231 South Bridges, and Low-Pin-Count Super I/O chip VT1211 that integrates a hardware monitor controller. The LM_Sensors package includes hardware monitoring and SMBus drivers for other utilities to acquire system-wide PC status information such as voltage, temperature, and fan speed. For systems using VIA South Bridges but with other vendors’ hardware monitor chips, we provide a sample program for reading data via the SMBus to facilitate testing and development.
EPIA MII Boot Utility
This utility release is Version 2.03, which provides a solution for OEMs to integrate VIA Mini-ITX EPIA MII board boot initialization code with VIA's optimized BootLoader onto flash ROM, making it possible directly from the system boot ROM to load and boot the Windows CE binary image or Linux on the booting storage device of EPIA MII. The resulting ROM code occupies a size of 128KB. And bootable devices supported include IDE hard disk, IDE flash disk, PCMCIA flash disk, ATAPI CDROM, DVD ROM and IDE SanDisk, and USB 2.0 Flash. EXT3(for Linux), ISO9660, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 file system formats are all supported. With the FastBoot ROM solution, OEM's do not need to license Microsoft DOS, nor do they need to develop any BootLoader, and the time it takes for system boot is greatly reduced. The utility works properly with any X86-based platform using VIA EPIA MII board and running Windows CE .NET or Linux.

C3 & C7 processor features

C3 & C7 Power Saver Feature

These documents describe how to turn on the Power Saver (previously known as “Longhaul”) feature of the VIA C3/C3-2/C7 CPUs, thereby making it possible to dynamically adjust processor clock frequency. The voltage can be adjusted on C7 CPU. The latest package includes a graphical-user-interface utility that can be configured to automatically adjust the CPU operating frequency, between a preferred set of speed grades, according to pre-determined system load criteria. This allows users to manually force the CPU to operate at a particular speed. The Power Saver feature is considered experimental at this time and users are advised to visit VIA Arena regularly for the latest update.

An IDE lockup issue occurs on some VIA EPIA Mini-ITX mainboards when the Power Saver feature is enabled. A patch to resolve this issue is available for Fedora Core 3.0/4.0/.50 in the drivers section.

VIA PadLock Software Development Kit
The VIA PadLock SDK (Software Development Kit) assists software developers in incorporating support for the VIA PadLock Hardware Security Suite embedded in VIA processors based on the C5P and C5XL Nehemiah cores. More Information.
Hardware Random Number Generator Linux Utility
The VIA C3 Nehemiah processor includes a high-performance hardware-based random number generator (RNG) on the processor die. The kernel starts to have a driver supporting the RNG from version 2.5.65. The documents below describe how to update the kernel and then make use of the RNG. We also offer a test utility with source code for.
VIA Cryptographic Service Provider
The VIA Cryptographic Service Provider or CSP supports AES encryption for the VIA C5P CPU. Application Developers can use AES encryption and decryption via the C5P CPU by calling the exported functions in VIA CSP. All the exported functions in this CSP follows the definition of CSP from Microsoft.

Boot Utilities

FreeBoot Utilties: These utilties work with Microsoft DOS 5.0 or later. The FreeBoot utility configures the bootable partition of a storage device in a target Windows CE platform with VIA's optimized bootloader. Currently supported bootable devices include IDE hard disk, IDE flash disk, IDE SanDisk, and both the FAT file system and the boot partition in M-Systems' Disk-On-Chip Millennium (MDOC). FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32 file system formats are all supported. The option of using a configurable boot argument data file is provided, facilitating OEM's during booting to select a debug COM or Ethernet port and its associated parameters, to set display resolutions, to disable write protection on the primary partition of a bootable IDE storage device. The option of displaying a start-up bitmap while booting is also provided. OEM's may choose to display or not to display a bitmap during booting and are also free to use their own. Moreover, features of file listing and deleting and dumping in MDOC's boot partition are offered to ease system development. The FreeBoot utility offers a cost-saving solution enabling a Windows CE bootable storage device with VIA's versatile booting mechanism. As a result, DOS is not required for booting a Windows CE binary image, and the time it takes for system booting is greatly reduced.

FastBoot Utilties: These utilities provide a solution for OEMs to integrate board-dependent boot initialization code with VIA's optimized BootLoader onto flash ROM, making it possible directly from the system boot ROM to load and boot the Windows CE binary image on the booting storage device of a target platform.

Managing System Registry
These guides describe how to enable the use of an IDE ATA storage device with FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32 file system format as the non-volatile persistent storage for managing system registry of a Windows CE target platform. Currently supported IDE ATA devices include hard disk, Sandisk, and Disk-On-Module (DOM). With VIA's FreeBoot or "Loadcepc," restoring registry must come from the primary master like earlier releases. With VIA's Fast Boot ROM, restoring system registry may come from any device, such as the primary master, the primary slave, the secondary master, or the secondary slave, as long as being specified as the system booting device. The package provides a solution for quickly saving and restoring registry of platforms with an IDE ATA storage device. By executing a sample application program (source code included), the user is able to save the registry to the system booting ATA device. In addition, OEM's have the flexibility to modify and optimize the source code to meet their various requirements. Upon system cold boot, the integrated low-level IDE storage device I/O library functions automatically restores system registry from an IDE ATA device with previously saved registry. The package operates on any Windows CE X86-based platform using VIA's chipsets or VIA's network controllers.
Persistent Registry & Power Management
These guides explain how to use System Control Interrupt (SCI) for persistent registry management and to suspend to power saving. The SCI power management handler makes it possible to save system registry upon system "power-off." This greatly simplifies registry management in that it reminds users of whether or not to save the registry before system power down. Instead of shutting down the whole system, the handler can suspend the system to power-saving mode. With Hive-based Registry installed, the SCI handler will automatically trigger the saving of system registry to a non-volatile storage device when it receives event "power-off" from the power switch. Moreover, when the handler receives event "power-saving" from the power Button switch or IOCTRL command, it will turn off VGA display and the CPU fan (depending on Mainboard), and throttle the CPU; to exit the power saving mode, press the power button again or issue a proper IOControl command. For persistent registry management, the SCI handler operates on any Windows CE X86-based platform using VIA's South Bridge chips detailed in the guides.
Hardware Monitor
The VIA Hardware Monitor utility monitors the CPU temperature, fan speed, mainboard voltage, and CPU core voltage. If the CPU temperate, fan speed, mainboard voltage or CPU core voltage does not operate within an expected range, the utility will pop-up warning messages to warn the user that the system is operating abnormally. The utility works properly with Microsoft Windows CE.NET 4.2. It only supports EPIA-M platform series at this time.
