Default RADEON 9600 XT on Kt400A

Hi.

I'm trying to attach an ATI RADEON 9600 XT to my KT400A-8237 (Epox) board. So far the computer has not booted up when the card is attached. When the power is turned on the fan runs for one second and then stops.
I wonder if this could be because they're not compatible with each other? Is that the case and how should the computer react?
Or is there another problem?

(My previous card on this motherboard was RADEON 9200 SE)

First off, are you sure the 9600 is good? Is there an external power connector that needs to be attached to the card? I presume when you put the 9200 back in the PC works fine again?

Did you have a problem with the old card? What PSU are you using? What steps did you take to install the new video card?

The 9600 works on the other computer so the card is alright.

There's no external power connector, it uses the AGP port only.

Yes I'm writing this with the 9200 back in.

PSU Info(not an expert so I hope this is the info you're looking for):
ENLIGHT EN-83072 V4
Model VP-B301
Acinput 230V
Frequency: 50-60Hz
Peak load 300W

>what steps did you take?
I only turned off the computer, removed the old card, replaced it with the new and then tried to start the computer.

You may have to un-install the Ati drivers first in add/remove program, then turn off the computer, replace the video card, I would then clear the bios (read the manual about this) (check and keep your bios settings as clearing the bios sets defaults, write them down first) and then power up, if it works the bios screen will come and once into Window re-install the Ati drivers.
