PCIE 2 compatibility

I have Biostar P4M900-M4 motherboard, which has VIA P4M900 & VIA VT8237A chipset combination as NB & SB. It has a PCIE X16, rev. 1a slot. I wanna install a PCIE 2 graphics card, ATI Radeon HD5570. Will it be compatible. I have heard that VIA chipsets has issues with PCIE 2.

Please help me out friends.

Although PCIE has backward compatiblity it may not always be the case in real scenario.

Please take note of the chipsets below as PCIE 2 cards may or may not work well with them.
