Default windows 7 switch

hi. i currently am a windows vista business user and i'm planning on switching to windows7. i tried to check the compatibility of my device to windows 7 and it says that my VIA PLATFORM DEVICE MANAGER 1.24 isn't compatible and that there are available upgrades for my device to make it compatible to windows7.
when i go to the link, it asks me what kind of via product i have and i dont really know the answer to that...

what is via platform device manager anyway?
and is it safe to switch even if it says it's not compatible with my version? (version 1.34 is the one compatible with w7. where do i and how do i get that?) thanks. hope someone could help clear things up.

Windows 7 has the VIA's drivers built in depending on the age of the motherboard so you should be able to install no problem, if your board is using VIA raid then you need to download the latest Raid drivers.

What is the make and model of the motherboard?

I have a similar problem. My MSW7 upgrade won't load and the only conflict Upgrade Adviser finds is the Via Platform Device Manager 1.15. Can't locate the 1.34 upgrade that MS recommends anywhere? Can someone please tell me how to get this file or tell me how to work around this conflict.
Thanks,
Rob

Have you had any luck finding the upgrade for VIA?

Just install Windows 7 it will have the drivers included as W7 has a large driver base.

I have had a Samsung PL55 for a few years; it’s a good video/camera.
I have taken many videos and opened them with Microsoft XP Professional with no problems. I have also uploaded some videos onto YouTube, all with XP Professional.
I have just gone over to Windows 7 with disastrous results; all that will open are Jpeg Photographs. I can download the video I’ve taken into my computer but it won’t open/play, also Windows Live Movie Maker doesn’t recognize the AVI files from the camera.
I have contacted Samsung in the UK, all they can say is “It’s a cheap camera and won’t work with Windows 7”, this I feel is not good enough as it’s still being sold, I guess under false pretences unless there is a codec I can down load, god knows I’ve tried downloading everyone I can get and the only one that works without paying vast amounts of money for is the VLC Media Player. This will play the video but won’t open in anything else.
Any help from anyone would be appreciated.
