Any possibility to run VDeck on XP?
Hi there folks,
currently I'm using Win7 x64 and I'd prefer to go back to WinXP. My audio chip is VIA VT1705. The thing is that on Windows 7, I get this Deck when installing the driver:
While on XP I get this old crappy thing:
Is there a way to get the black VDeck running on XP? With the setting I have on there, the sound I get is perfect for me, and I really don't wanna buy a sound card since I'm happy with what that deck gives me. I mean, they're both in the same driver package, but on XP I get that older one which I really don't like. Is it possible?
Thanks

Unless there is a tool to change the skin on the XP Deck, like hidden under the Info button, you are stuck.
I suppose if you were a programmer you could edit the driver to give you that black Win 7 skin, but I sure wouldn't try it myself.
They don't want you to run XP anymore. They want you on Win 7 and next on Win 8. You must not fight the MS Force, modernaire.

It's not about the skin or the color, it's about the fact that those two decks are completely different. The black VDeck has got a lot more settings and options to set up the sound, the old XP Deck has got half of them, or even less. It's about the options.
Oh, my friend, I will fight the MS Force till the day I die. See, they are the dark side, I am a Jedi

OK, now I see the difference. But you say it's the same driver for XPee and Win 7? Been quite a few years since I ran VIA sound, and it was that lame older version.
Is this a clean install of XP? If not there could be crap in the Registry from an older driver install. You are uninstalling the old driver I presume?
I use several tools doing a driver upgrade. First is Driver Sweeper. Forget Windows uninstaller. Then I run CCleaner and use the Registry tool. You can get both those programs free at CNET.com.
Click the link in my Sig and make sure you have the newest driver for the VT1705. Not sure what else to suggest. Oh, there is a member here, "IMweasel" who is pretty spot on with audio stuff. You may want to send him a PM if he doesn't pop in soon.
