Default ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 HD Audio Deck Problem? No Bass Management.

Hi I have a ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 motherboard with Windows XP and the latest VIA HD Audio Deck driver installed.
My issue is i cannot get the Bass Management option to work, its unhighlighted and when i click the option to choose "On" it stays grayed out without turning on.

Why is the XP version so old, I see the new VDeck has a seperate bass section and more options. Is there a way to install VDeck on Windows XP 32bit?

Package Version: 10.4.00.31.VIA
Driver Version: 6.0.1.10400
Codec Type: VT1818S

With the VIA HD Audio Deck chosen, the option to go into advanced control is gone as well and grayed out. So not only can I not use the Bass Management in the VIA HD Audio Deck itself but it also takes out the option to do so in Windows. I don't understand why it will not enable. Please some help to resolve this issue or maybe a newer Audio Deck is needed? I use studio monitors as speakers so they can no doubt support the bass but I cannot control the bass in anyway when using the VIA HD Audio Deck as my driver, unless i use the EQ which is impractical to me coming from easier ways to control the bass.

So how can i turn on Bass Management? Or install VDeck on Windows XP so i have the new Deck?

As for your personal message:
I've had crackling problems in the past as well. The cause was that my sound chip shared an IRQ with another device, a USB hub. The hub entered a sleeping state after a while, which made the sound go all weird.
So either you could try to correct possible IRQ sharing issues,or at least turn off any power saving options if the devices can't have a seperate IRQ.

Furthermore,
Since you are on XP, have you installed the Windows hotfix for Universal Audio Architecture? ( UAA driver/hotfix)
As for the layout of the Vdeck,i don't know how it looks on XP... It could help if you post some screenshots. I'm on win7 myself.

By the way, here is the latest HD Audio driver : http://www.station-drivers.com/telec...ivers.com).exe

Default 4 channel problem

I have the same Mobo running win7, I have 4-channel setup and anytime no sound is played for more than a couple minutes the rear speakers start emitting a loud hum and won't play. Using Vdeck to change back to 2-speaker and back again to 4 and they will work again. Could this be a similar conflict? How would I check that?

Looking at device manager "High definition audio controller" is on IRQ 16 by itself and on IRQ 19 which is shared with "Standard Dual channel PCI IDE controller", the properties don't allow me to change the resources in the box. a DVD drive is the only IDE device currently in my system.

@Slow,it could be similar. See if my earlier advice helps to solve this issue. It could very well be that using a newer driver solves it, but you could also try some older drivers.
