HD Vdeck Windows 7
Hi there,
I am running windows 7 ultimate 64bit and my product is an onboard VIA HD Audio Codec VT1708B.
I cannot get the HD Vdeck program to run. The installation and drivers install fine and the program appears in the bottom right corner at startup but it simply won't open. No error messages occur or anything. When going to task manager I can see all the attempts at opening the program as I will have several vdeck.exe's running. I have tried running as administrator, and exausted all the compatibility option. I have tried the latest drivers (7.300A) from Via which state compatibility with Windows 7.
The reason I need this program to work is to enable my 5.1 speakers. Without the vdeck I have been unable to do this.
Thanks for your help.

Does the motherboard factor into the functionality of the HD VDeck program though? The drivers work, audio works, it's just I can't adjust the speakers to 5.1 without that HD VDeck.

Sayros, that board has Realtek ALC662 6-Channel HD Audio, not VIA.
Drivers here: BIOSTAR :: MCP6PB M2+ :: Driver scroll down the page a ways.
Please, before installing any new drivers, remove any VIA sound drivers first. There is a snappy little program called "Revo Uninstaller" if Windows can't remove the VIA drivers. Get Revo from CNET.com.

Sorry I guess I should have been more specific. The motherboard is version 6.3 which has the VIA instead of the Realtek.

One quick question: has it ever worked correctly under Win7?

No. I just put together this system and have only used windows 7 and I have not been able to get the program to run. Like I said, it installs fine, no error messages when I open it and it shows up in my task manager and the icon is in the right corner but the program does not display. Is there an alternative program possibly where I can adjust the speaker settings?

The first thing I would do is make certain all bios settings related to the audio are correct. Next, pull out the motherboard manual and make certain there aren't any jumpers that need to be shifted or that may have come off during installation in the tower.
Failing either of those, you might want to try an earlier driver package, if one exists. I have found that with Nvidia cards, for example, that earlier drivers often correct problems that later drivers either created or, at best, can't correct.

OK thanks. I will try all of the above. What exactly am I looking for in the BIOS settings though?
