Easiest way to organize events

My niece’s third birthday is round the corner and she is really excited about it as this is first time she is going to celebrate her birthday. Seeing her enthusiasm, we decided to make it a big event for her. While my sister is taking care of food and venue, the hard work of inviting guests and preparing the guest list was my responsibility. Well, my netbook turned into an event manager to help me organize this birthday bash for her.

Amiando is a popular web-based event management service, which helps you organize functions right from small private parties to high profile events from anywhere with the help of your netbook. It claims to have organized more than 50,000 events and has a broad customer channel of more than 25,000 around the globe.

Amiando is based in Germany and was started by a group of 6 friends in 2006. Getting started with Amiando is easy. Amiando offers a free account known as Amiando Friends for small parties and private events. Amiando Friends allow you to create a website for your event, send invitation mails and keep track of guests attending the event.

Amiando also offers two pro accounts—Amiando Tickets and Amiando Events—for organizing a set of professional events. Amiando Tickets offers to sell your event tickets and collect payments. It also promotes your event intensively on your behalf via viral ticketing. The third plan is for events such as professional events, registration management for corporate events, meetings, and conferences. Signing up for all the accounts is free, but pro accounts charge for ticket sold and for event participation. Amiando Tickets cost around 0.5 € per ticket + 7.5 % of ticket price per each sold ticket whereas Amiando Events charges 2.90 € per participant.

My event is only a birthday bash, so I signed up for a free Amiando Friend. For registration, I had to enter my email address with my name and password. In case of pro accounts, an additional phone number is also required. Once logged in, you will see the list of events already created by you. When you click on any of the events, you will see the website created by you for that event.

You can create new events with the help of ‘Create an Event’ tab, which will create a new website for your event. You can feed event details, venue and date in the general settings page. You can also make your event page look stunning by choosing a beautiful theme and adding extra modules in it such as photos, videos and polls in it.

You can invite your friends by sending emails and also promote your event details on your social networking website profiles such as Facebook or twitter. You can also see if someone accepts or declines your invitation in the ‘real time statistics’ of your event. After the event, you can also upload photos or videos of the event. You can also send reminder mails or thank you mails to participants. You can also embed your event page on your blogs and other websites with the help of buttons and banners.

My sister is really impressed and believes that I put a lot of effort in organizing the guest list and creating a website for the little one’s birthday party. She doesn’t have any idea about how easy it was for me and my netbook to manage it.
